This single disc does not contain the contents found in the 12 discs of amazing extras—two per movie—found in the original Extended Edition Blu-ray releases. Dubbed the ‘Appendices’, these contained hours and hours of behind-the-scenes footage, documentaries, interviews, art, and more, and are some of the greatest special features ever made. Even The Hobbit got the same treatment, giving frank and clear insight into how the production of that trilogy went. Instead, here are all the extras included in the Middle-Earth Ultimate Collector’s Edition: Additionally, the types of serialized cards differ from each booster type. You can only find the serialized Sol Rings in the original Tales of Middle-earth Collector Boosters; they aren’t in the Special Edition. Addenda (5 pp.): North-western Middle-earth (map redrawn by Stephen Raw, 1994), small-scale key plus 4 sections. The Fellowship of the Ring: 426 pp. (i–xiv prefatory; 1–408 text; 4 pp. addenda) plus 19 colour plates (see Maps & Illustrations, below). p. 756: Sentence ‘‘I am,’ said Pippin’ incorrectly separated from Gandalf’s preceding dialogue (should run on). Hammond and Christina Scull date the Unfinished Tales map emendation to 2004 in The Lord of the Rings: A Reader’s Companion (p. 588, third note to p. 875); if correct, this means my copies are from no earlier than 2004. Since the books include ISBN-13 codes (introduced on 1 January 2007), they are most likely impressions from 2007 or later.
