About this deal

I experienced serious Bluetooth issues that caused music to cut out on my headphones, but Google promises a fix. i was doing research for quite a while - at least 2 months - looking for an upgrade. i was strongly looking at the pixelbook go but w/o the 2 in 1 form factor, i was hesitant b/c i wanted a tablet or a small footprint in bed. i didn't want a clamshell.

The Pixel Slate is a bit of a perplexing device at first glance. It’s wrapped in a premium frame with first-class build materials and new technologies at the forefront. However, it’s also mighty expensive for what’s on offer. The Pixel Slate gets pretty bright, emitting up to 337 nits, which beats the 316-nit premium laptop average and comes close to the 350-nit Galaxy Book 2. We found brighter screens in the Surface Pro 6 (408 nits), iPad Pro (484 nits), and Pixelbook (421 nits). The Pixel Slate's brightness is strong enough for decent viewing angles, as I saw colors stay strong, and not darken, when viewed at 35 degrees to the left and right.CON:The Pixel Slate is not cheap and may not be affordable for everyone. Furthermore, its battery life is not as good as some other laptops on the market. The Best Features of the Google Pixel Slate

The Google Pixel Slate tablet has been created with an Intel Core M3 processor and 8GB RAM. With a battery that will last up to 12 hours and weighting just 720g, this is a highly portable as tablet, that’s ready to take on work tasks and help with some casual gaming.

Google Pixel Slate is the company's last detachable

The i5 model sped through every task I threw at it. Multi-tab Chrome web ran smoothly, even with two windows open side-by-side. Android gaming apps played chug- and stutter-free, and basic photo editing in PhotoShop Express worked fine – although the rear of the tablet did become noticeably warm with prolonged use. With dual front-firing speakers, the Google Pixel Slate delivers a great surround sound experience, while the 2 inbuilt microphones provide improved noise cancellation for your filming or video chats.

The Pixel Slate's 12.3-inch screen offered accurate touch recognition as I navigated the web and smooth scrolling as I skimmed through the Google Doc for this review. It also responds to swipe-up gestures from the bottom and top, with the former opening the app shelf and the latter showing all open apps and enabling split-screen apps (but only when you're in tablet mode). The speaker setup is another key inclusion that differentiates the Pixel Slate from other Chrome OS and Windows tablets. On its front, you’ll see twin dual-speakers that Google claims are “custom-tuned to deliver industry-leading audio”. Using the tablet to watch Netflix in bed, I can confirm that there’s truth to this claim. The second issue is even odder: sometimes the Bluetooth setting in the options menu just disappeared. Opening the Settings app doesn't help, as Bluetooth wouldn't turn on there either. The only solution is to the reboot the Pixel Slate. The desktop mode has a similar application window system to regular desktop operating systems, and will be intuitive to anyone coming from MacOS or Windows 10. Battery life is one area Chrome OS devices usually excel compared to laptops. In the convertible space things are a little more competitive, however, since iOS remains one of the most power-efficient operation systems ever made. The display does little to change my feeling about the pen; it’s clearly been designed for entertainment and office users as opposed to creatives.

The display, beset on both sides by booming (yet still tinny) speakers, uses new technology that Google calls its ‘Molecular Display.’ This tech employs low-temperature polymer crystals that move electrons faster than standard displays, which is what allows the display to produce such a high pixel density compared to other screens of similar dimensions. The Pixel Slate is available in a variety of configurations, which you can see in the table below. Spec There so much about the Google Pixel Slate to love, including its beautiful screen, comfortable keyboard, great sound and long battery life. Unfortunately, this machine comes with a few asterisks, including some notable bugs that Google should fix soon. It will take longer, though, for Google Play apps to feel like native tablet apps.

PRO:The Pixel Slate has a lot of great features for users. It has a 10.5-inch display with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels, making it perfect for use as both a laptop replacement and tablet. Additionally, it has an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory, 128GB storage, and a 12MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash. Thanks to its 12.3”, 3000 x 2000 pixel touch screen, viewing your high resolution photos, films and videos will be a pleasure. It has been designed to convey immersive images and it makes for a great casual gaming and multimedia experience.
