About this deal

Biothane is an interesting and newly popular material which consists of polyester and a special coating which makes it odourless and anti-fungal. This stops it from getting dirty and harbouring bacteria, making it a slightly more weatherproof option. It has a smooth, leather-like feel, but is crucially a lot more resistant!

So I had a look and rang a lady called Sarah asking for advice which was duly given in a friendly and not condescending way and a 15 m lead arrived with a couple of days…it was well made, nice and wide at 25mm with good quality clips, padded handle and a brilliant new to me but so simple and obvious”double up” which basically means if you start with a 7.5m lead you can immediately let it out to 15m(hence the double up) to give your pooch a nice long run and still be in control…and vice versa. When choosing a dog training lead, consider factors such as the dog’s size, behavior, and training goals. It’s essential to select a lead made from sturdy materials that can withstand pulling and offer a comfortable grip for the handler. Additionally, always ensure that the lead is securely attached to the dog’s collar or harness to prevent accidental escapes. The length of dog lead you require is entirely dependent on the form of training you want to do and the training environment at your disposal. After lead length, the other most important thing to consider is the type of collar or harness you are using. A nice handle makes the world of difference for owners and without one, a sharp yank or pull could result in some seriously painful rope burn from your lead! Technically, you can train your dog with any kind of lead providing it can give you the right amount of control over your pup! metres – same as 10 metres, ideal for where you have more space. Better for advanced recall training (allowing more distance between dog and handler), also a good length for dogs who are rarely or never allowed off lead. For those who don’t trust collars not to pull and harm their dog during training, harnesses are a safer and conscience easing alternative.

Its unique bungee style cord extends around 12 inches when pulled, which helps reduce the sudden force acting on both you and your dog. This helps you stay in control and crucially, also helps reduce the risk of injury and increase comfort for your pup! The primary purpose of a dog training lead is to keep the dog safely attached to the handler while allowing for communication and control. They play a crucial role in teaching obedience, leash manners, and ensuring the safety of both the dog and the handler. A well-designed training lead can significantly aid in shaping desired behaviors and preventing undesirable ones.Long-lines are great for giving your dog more freedom whilst still having some control of what they are doing. They’re a safe and effective way to practice recall training before letting your dog off lead completely as they give them more freedom and the feeling of being off lead. Usage technique no. 1 – hold the part of the lead you want the length to be and let the rest trail, then walk your hands up and down the lead lengthening and shortening as you walk. Never let the lead run through your hands as you will get a burn unless you have good gloves on. The best for training tend to be nylon, as these are the most hard-wearing and so provide the best tear-resistance and strength. If you have a particularly big dog, this can help with those early stages of yanking! But as yanking and pulling is inevitably going to occur… any lead or collar you buy is going to need to be kind to your dog and their skin. We want to teach them to be less excitable and follow your movements on the lead and we shouldn’t have to hurt them to do this!
