About this deal

We ask you to provide your own transport to and from venues although we can quite often organise car sharing to minimise environmental impact and reduce fuel costs. Once we are there we will try to use car sharing to get us around during the course. We can usually collect you from a local station if you are travelling to your course via public transport. Bouldering is one of the purest forms of climbing and the Peak District National Park is a world class venue. It’s the perfect combination for a great adventure. Bouldering is also one of the fastest growing aspects of climbing. Add to that the easy accessibility of the Peak District National Park and the well established visit infrastructure (our Hope Valley Guide will give you some useful info if you are a new visitor). Believe us, in this area we really do have it all. What Is Bouldering? Your instructor for the day will be one of our qualified and experienced team. Our instructors are qualified through the Mountain Training qualification scheme. Crucially, your instructor will also be a passionate climber with extensive local knowledge. Our team live and breathe climbing and will be sure to inspire you. At the end of our day with us we want you to be addicted to the sport and excited for more. We are the Peak District experts. What Do I Need To Bring? Has your child tried climbing on one of our tasters and wants to progress their skills? Maybe they want to join the national scheme NICAS and log their progress, earning certificates for each level they complete.

Given its popularity this place can get super busy on a weekend, head to Stanage Far Right (see below) to avoid the circus. Also beware of midges in warm and damp weather! Higgar Tor, Burbage West, Burbage North, Burbage South Edge, Burbage South Valley, Owler Tor and Mother Cap, Secret Garden, Millstone, Carl Wark, Houndkirk Tor, Ox Stones Does your teen like climbing and want to progress their skills? JOIN THE BMC

Join Hari Budha Magar, a double above-knee amputee, and Krish Thapa, an ex SAS mountain leader, as they share their incredible story on how they plan to conquer Everest next year. Over the last year we have had to intervene in a few situations where we've noticed carabiners not done up properly, or carabiners being crossloaded when lowering climbers. We are based in Upper Hulme inthe beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands area of the westside of the Peak District. The medieval market town of Leek isno further than a 5min drive down the road and has plenty of super markets, pubs and shops to explore. 20 mins in the other direction and you arrive in the historicaltown of Buxton again full of shops, museums, cinema and atheatre.

We are one of the most experienced providers of Mountain Training courses in the UK and offer low ratios and a very high standard of safety, care and enjoyment. This, coupled with our very experienced and relaxed instructors means you are sure to have an unforgettable experience. Higgar Tor, Burbage West, Burbage North, Burbage South Edge, Burbage South Valley, Owler Tor, Secret Garden, Mother Cap, Millstone, Carl Wark, Houndkirk Tor, Ox Stones We centre our courses around the buzzing village of Hathersage as this gives us access to dozens of great venues and thousands of climbs within just a few minutes drive.

On public transport grab a bus (from Sheffield) or a train (from Manchester or Sheffield) to Hathersage, and thumb a lift or walk (approx 2 miles). There are toilets near to the car park. Unfortunately we can’t control the weather. However, we do always try to plan areas and routes that should be appropriate and in good condition. One of the advantages of being in small groups with flexible itineraries is that we can make the best of the conditions on the day. This does mean that we reserve the right to change the itinerary for safety reasons if required. Please follow the kit lists and be prepared for all the ‘interesting’ weather the U.K. has to offer. The best the lakes has to offer for mere mortals (because it's not always as wet as kez thinks) 29 climbs We provide all the technical equipment including harnesses and helmets (although you are welcome to bring your own if you have them) so all you need is suitable clothing and lunch. Long trousers that you can move in freely and warm upper layers are ideal. Anyone looking for a fast, dynamic, incrediblyaccessibleclimbing activity.Noprevious experience is needed for this course. We aim on this course to make you into a fully independent boulderer, able to go anywhere in the world toenjoy this amazing sport. Kit needed:

Even on a top rope, if a climber was to fall from a route and the belayer was too far from the wall, there is a risk of the belayer being pulled into the wall. With the amount of rope in the system, this can increase the distance the climber could potentially fall and therefore increasing the risk of a climber hitting the floor before their belayer could catch them. This poll and my earlier one are merely attempts to get a slightly more quantitative feel to some of the ideas/issues than the many threads of comments/opinions - not sure it's worked but I thought it was worth trying anyway. Once your child has completed NICAS 1&2, they might find it more suitable to climb with others at the same level as the skills on the scheme become more involved. All information supplied to us remains completely confidential and we will never pass it on to third parties. Our start time and meeting point is at 9:30am atour centre. Here we will brief you on the day's activity whilst you help yourself toa free brew and biscuit. From here we will set off to the crag for an exciting day's learning. We sometimes we use areas further away from our centre so you can get the most out of your course, therefore some transport isadvantageous. However if you are struggling for transport please let us know so we can arrange some for you. How to book:

Peak District is well known for its popular climbing locations boasting some of the best climbing spots in the UK. We will help guide you through the different difficulties, locations, courses and experience days.An added bonus with many outdoor bouldering settings are the views on offer whilst you climb. The Roaches presents awesome views to enjoy and soak in. The Southern Section of the edge is fairly broken but offers good bouldering and short routes close to the car, with a few harder classics on The Cowperstone and Apparent North buttress. As mentioned above, the weather is a factor for choosing where and when to go, but only prolonged rain is likely to stop the determined. Generally October and November are the wettest months but can still offer great days with fantastic autumn colours. February is the best choice for the hardcore with a winning combination of little rainfall and low temps. At any time of year, a westerly or southerly breeze will soon dry the crag in only a couple of hours. During the 2 days you’ll try a selection of climbs and also learn a ‘toolbox’ of essential climbing techniques ready to progress your climbing in the future if you choose. We’ll also visit a variety of venues to give you a thorough taste of the amazing climbing the Peak District has to offer. Another location within Burbage with lower grades is Haggar Tor. For bouldering newbies, it's a great place to practice landings more than solving problems. It offers low-level difficulty with lower probability of problematic landings. Just make sure your pads are in place and you bring a spotter along!
