About this deal

After she tells him he was the reason she got the tattoo, they share a kiss, and have sex later that night. Ryle was the spine, without his character there would be nothing except another boring coho romance. Otherwise, Song’s narration is understated and contemplative as Lily pieces together her past and present feelings about Atlas.

Everything about this book annoyed me; from lack of plot and bland characters, to commentary devoid of nuance and whole sections of the first book copied and pasted into the text. Women don’t always have a Prince Charming waiting for them after they escape an abusive relationship. Instead of waking her up, Atlas occupies himself by reading some of the journal entries that Lily wrote about Atlas when they were kids.Revealing more about Atlas's past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that "no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover" (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author). Not to mention the fact that Lily’s closest friends are Ryle’s sister and his best friend; it is close to impossible to heal from abuse when you are still in such close proximity to your abuser.

The only thing I rolled my eyes at was Lily writing to Ellen still but alas a book can’t be too perfect.

It was an alright way to pass a few hours if you're not quite ready to leave the world of Lily and Atlas. Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas, It Starts with Us picks up right where the epilogue for the bestselling phenomenon It Ends with Us left off. I can’t for the life of me understand why this series is hailed as one about ending the cycle of abuse, since the cycle of abuse in the books doesn’t even end! Narrators Colin Donnell and Olivia Song deliver Hoover’s highly anticipated second-chance-at-love sequel. I can't see any guy typing that much, especially in a text message, but Atlas is apparently not your average guy.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Marianka Swain of The Daily Telegraph gave the novel 2 out of 5 stars, describing Hoover's writing quality as "closer to Fifty Shades of Grey, a strange mix of twee and graphic, plus the added irritant of solemn therapy-speak pronouncements. But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life--and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter's life.Maybe I’m the weird one, but if someone I “love like a brother” were to push their partner down the stairs and bite them so hard they bled, I simply wouldn’t love them like a brother anymore!
