About this deal

This retelling of the biblical story of Gomer and Hosea set during the time of the California Gold Rush isnow considered by many to be a classic work of Christian fiction. When Angel sees Miriam talking with Michael, she assumes that they have feelings for one another and jumps to the conclusion that they would make a much better couple than she and Michael. NATIONAL BESTSELLER * A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE starring Abigail Cowen, Tom Lewis, Nina Dobrev, with Logan Marshall Green and Eric Dane, special appearance by Famke Janssen. A lot of romcoms push the assumption that Person A can love Person B so much that it doesn't really matter that Person B doesn't love Person A.

Yes, I am a Christian but that shouldn't be an excuse for why I should endorse this book and I'm tired of being told I should. It was easy to read (the story flowed very smoothly), yet emotionally, it was very difficult to read. The book deals with some really horrible and heartbreaking stuff (child rape, prostitution, incest)(but not in real explicit terms) and just when you think you've read the worst, something else is revealed that will break your heart all over again. I am not religious, so my review of this inspirational romance will be coming from the perspective of a secular reader. Everyone deserves a Michael in their lives, but it is unrealistic to expect anyone to stick around after all the pain inflicted so I do appreciate the faith elements and biblical inspiration incorporated.Slowly, he defies Angel's every bitter expectation until, despite her resistance, her frozen heart begins to thaw.

In spite of its flaws, REDEEMING LOVE is a good book, and I think secular readers will be able to enjoy it too (probably more so if they can find copies of that elusive 1991 edition).

This book is probably good if you are into this kind of stuff but religious romance about redeeming love for anti-romantic, cynical atheist like me was just torture.

When the men at the brothel see the two young girls with Angel, they become furious and destroy the place. Anyway, it was definitely the best book I've read all year, and probably one of the best books I've EVER read. It is all about redemption, in the end, it is God’s one true love that is Angel’s salvation and redemption. They two truly start a new life together, and in the epilogue, it is said that Michael and Sarah later had four children.

When her brother in law drives her through the wilderness and commands her to have sex with him or he will abandon her there, he is using physical and emotional force. She finds that the brothel had been burned down by Macgowan with the Duchess, Lucky and Mei Ling inside.

Despite being the object of desire for the local men, she survives through hatred and self-loathing. Mike McCahill of The Guardian gave the film 2/5 stars, saying it "thinly scatters a parable's worth of plot across 134 minutes and resembles HBO's Deadwood recut for Sunday-school purposes: pious, puzzling and punitive, with a sternly wagging finger never far from entering the frame. That is not in line with Scripture, where God does not love with an everlasting love those who deny Him.This is a Christian based love story about a prostitute finding redemption and spirituality with her farmer husband. She feels a deep sense of shame at her "uncleanness:" she is moved by Michael's love but cannot see herself as worthy of it. Wearing someone out to the point that it's easier to say Yes than No is not really the same as making them love you.
