Cruising around the Bahama’s, Miami and the Atlantic ocean

The Bahamas lays claim to around 180,000 square miles of Atlantic Ocean, with the country being made up of more than 700 islands. As a holiday destination, it therefore offers plenty of open space and ports of call to enjoy. Anyone planning to take a trip to this beautiful part of the world must surely stop off at at least one of these spots.

Places to visit in the Bahama’s

New Providence

This is home to the capital city, Nassau, and is the most populated island of the Bahamas. This makes it a great starting point for a tour and there is certainly plenty to see and do on the island. Arrive at the right time and you can experience the Junkanoo Parade, which takes place three times a year and is a celebration of Bahamian music and dance. Visit Fort Montagu or Government House for some history and a trip to Athol Island provides the chance to get in the water and enjoy some swimming.

Grand Bahama

This is the most northerly of the islands and lies at a distance of around 56 miles from Florida, USA. Its attractions make it a definite must-stop destination and there are plenty to choose from. Some of the highlights include the underwater cave systems in Lucayan National Park, the snorkelling at Deadman’s Reef, and the gambling at the island’s casino. However, there is plenty more to enjoy on Grand Bahama to make it a fun destination.

Harbour Island

No visit to the Bahamas is complete without spending some time relaxing on a beach and a trip to one of the out islands is the best idea for this. One of the most beautiful is Harbour Island, with pink sand making it a picturesque location. There are three miles of beaches to enjoy, with these generally being between 50 and 100 feet wide. This means plenty of space to find a secluded spot and just chill out in the sunshine.

Inagua

The flamingo is the national bird of the Bahamas and Inagua is the place to see these beautiful birds in the wild. The island is home to three national parks, so if your plans include some wildlife watching, it is the perfect stopping off location. Apart from the flamingos, there are also Bahamas parrots, hummingbirds, sea turtles, and lizards to see.

Thoughts of the Bahamas usually conjure up images of beautiful sandy beaches, calm turquoise waters, and brilliant sunshine. The islands identified above have all these attractions and more to make them paradise locations to take in on a yachting trip to the country.

We’re in Miami girl!

Miami is no doubt one of the most beautiful cities on the American continent and the world at large. It has its fair share of tourist attractions and it is flooded every year by tourists from across the globe. Miami can prove to be more than a handful, considering the great tourist sites and incomparable level of fun obtainable there. No trip to Miami is complete without stopping along the way at these spots.

Miami Beach

The beach is directly on an island. It is clearly separated by the Atlantic Ocean from the mainland and the only connections between the two are provided by a series of bridges. The Art Deco District is located on the beach. The beach sports a mix of ancient and modern day artefacts. There are 1930s sporting neon signs and there are modern day but somewhat expensive tourist establishments like sunbathing clubs, hotels, shops and beach-front restaurants.

Art Deco District beckoning

The Art Deco District in Miami brings to live the olden days’ history of Miami. The district is composed of historical structures displaying olden day’s neon signs. Many of these structures have outdoor dinning areas and ocean drives that give you direct view of the ocean and the beach.

South Beach

As the name implies, the beach is located right at the southern part of the Miami Beach close to the area where the waterfront is lined by the Art Deco structures. This area of Miami Beach seems to attract most visitors and this makes it the most popular and famous part of the Miami Beach. You can find use for it during the winter and summer alike. A quiet stroll can best be taken on this part of the Miami Beach during the winter months when it is somewhat deserted.

Ocean Drive

The Ocean Drive is located on the Miami Beach and it runs past the Art Deco Buildings and along the ocean-front. It is open during the day and night for sightseeing and gentle cruise.

Bayside Marketplace

The Bayside Marketplace comprises about 150 tourist shops and is designed in form of an outdoor kind of shopping mall. If you will like to take some souvenir back home, the marketplace is the best place to do your shopping. The Bayside Market place is kept lively; thanks to the day live entertainments and restaurants littering the landscape. Water taxis do traverse the Atlantic to locations like Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach from here.

Bayfront Park

The Bayfront Park had taken on entirely new look since its redesigning in the 1980s. It now has a Pepper Fountain controlled electrically. It sports an amphitheatre, laser illumination tower, the Challenger Memorial monument, the World War II memorial monument, and the Torch of Friendship monument.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

This is a beautiful place in all sense of the word. It is rich in top quality art works and exceptional architectural designs like never before. It formerly belonged to one James Deering, who was an industrialist in the early 20th century. The estate sits on a 28 acre expanse and features up to 34 rooms, which are adorned by decorative arts and European furniture.
